We often hear that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the best game of all times

23. 11. 2020

We’ve been looking forward to Valhalla for a long time: interest in the game has risen thanks to Ubisoft’s marketing that didn’t allow impatient gamblers to forget, as well as the 2019 scandal in which Ubisoft introduced the much-criticized Ghost Recon: Breakpoint to the public which showed that change of strategy and paying more attention to the development of every new game is called for.

According to emerging Internet and social networking opinions and reviews, Valhalla‘s development has succeeded indeed: although most players still feel the spirit of classic Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it is no longer the same as Assassin’s Creed Origins or Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – the creative team decided to modify the existing version and add new features to it: despite the fact that this is a typical Ubisoft game in some places, in which you will mostly focus on gradual revealing of the map with main storyline tasks but also (so much appreciated) side tasks, the game is increasingly compared to the popular Skyrim or even The Witcher thank to its eye for detail (as in RPG).

Valhalla begins in Norway in 873 and focuses on one of the most interesting periods of the early European Middle Ages – the Viking invasion of the British Isles. For centuries, savage warriors significantly influenced the history of future England and continental Europe. The Northerners have even managed to get to North America – and in the new edition of Assassin’s Creed, this fact is also quite significant.

The game feels like there is no main character and the clan is considered to be key in the plot. Formally speaking, we can perceive Eivor as the protagonist (a ruthless warrior whose gender can be either due to this neutral name, so it is not predetermined and can be chosen), with a predestined nature and worldview but she is no more than part of a family whose only effort is to work for the clan. The game begins with the story of Eivor, the introduction and the subsequent escape of Eivor with his half-brother to England. During the game, the character solves village-related problems most of the time, explores the map, helps people in need and attacks other villages and Christian churches, both to complete the map and to better his own village – as already mentioned, the main goal is the benefit of the clan.

During the game, you will encounter both the fighting styles already known from the previous parts of the game and completely new side tasks when exploring a map, such as catching cats, finding snake eggs or rescuing characters from rat attacks. According to the developers, we need small tasks so as to distract and entertain ourselves while playing and move away from the heavy main line. The supporting characters are also well-developed in the game, which leaves the choice between watching the main line and going through interesting side quests of the game. After all, some state that they enjoy both when playing without feeling rushed towards anything.

Despite its apparent compactness, Valhalla from Assassin’s Creed can be a game for several hundred hours. It will only take you about 60 hours to go through the mainline tasks, however if you decide to take on interesting side tasks, this indicator may slowly increase to infinity and if someone is looking for just such an experience, this may be a real nut for them. But even those who are only interested in the main story will find what they are looking for: this time it will be much easier as there is no strict link to the level or degrees of damage in the game, so you can fully focus on the main task.

To those who have not yet purchased the game but plan to spend the end of the year in the pleasant company of Vikings and relish the atmosphere of medieval England, we offer products from the new Assassin’s Creed Valhalla collection which will delight not only fans of this famous series but also all gamers who know how to choose the best.
