Pierre-Auguste Renoir was the son of a French tailor. He lived in the 19th and 20th centuries and was very interested in music. He wanted to be a musician, but finally chose to be an painter. At an early age, he became an apprentice and decorated porcelain, screens and fans. Later on he began to study art at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and loved visiting the Louver. He painted motifs mostly of nature, landscape and also portraits. He often portrays his family (Girls at the piano), but he also painted social scenes.
