Wood as a decorative element

Wood is an organic material that has always been used in decoration, same as glass or steel. Even though, wood has served as an artistic medium for several millennia, nowadays it still has an exceptional value and is very much appreciated by interior designers. Artists of any kind have been reinventing the usage of wood, attempting to make it more modern, more comfortable, and more pleasant to look at. Generally, wood is one of the best materials to be used inside of any environment. Having such an ecological origin, wood will always make a room “breathe”. It will make its air fresh, clean and rustic. At the same time, wood will bring that natural comfort we almost always lack in modern spaces. That’s exactly why wood has been extremely used as a flooring material, because walking on a floor made from wood makes you feel like you’re almost in a real forest. Even though surprisingly and much rarely used, wood can also serve as a beautiful wall decoration.

Thanks to the development of print technologies and the debut of innovative decorative ideas, today wood can be used not only as an input for summerhouses, but also for creation of avant-garde and contemporary designs. If you are someone who prefers black and white combinations, try to keep all the decorative elements in the same color palate. You may want to try a combination of a black sofa with a greyish distressed wood. This room will still remain very minimalistic, but will become a little bit more full of character.

If you are, by contrast, someone who loves color, then try a non-typical wood wall mural.  It will firstly, lift up the brown tones of furniture and secondly, it will visibly enlarge the room.

If these 2 solutions seem too radical for you, then try a more natural wood interpretation. Use this wall mural to bring a part of nature to your room, but also keep the design simple and biological. Use a combination of beige, grey and brown tones to complete the look of the area.
